Uniting Policy and Technology for Electric Grid Transformation

The inaugural IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Energy and Policy Forum will be held in Washington, D.C, on 14–17 April 2025, providing a platform for discussion, analysis, and collaboration on issues related to the power grid and energy policy, regulations, sustainability, resilience, and innovation. The Forum brings together government experts, policymakers, utility companies, industry leaders, researchers, and other stakeholders to explore challenges and opportunities in the power and energy sector and develop coordinated strategies for achieving a sustainable and resilient energy future. The Forum will serve as a hub for fostering dialogue, sharing knowledge, and catalyzing action towards a more sustainable and equitable energy future.

Forum Tracks

The forum involves three major tracks:

  1. Evolving Power Generation Portfolio
  2. Transformation of Electricity Delivery System (T&D)
  3. Distributed Energy Resources, Energy Storage, Electrification and Load Growth
Forum Structure
  • Tutorials
    Focus on sharing knowledge with the community on the basics of policymaking and regulation in the power industry.
  • Super Sessions and Panel Discussions
    Sessions focus discussion on the intersection of energy and policy, including challenges and opportunities for innovative technology development and deployment, and showcase how industry and policymakers can come together to ensure a safe, reliable, affordable, and resilient grid, for today and tomorrow.
  • Innovation Showcase
    Showcasing innovative technology and projects, developed by industry (manufacturing, service providers, national labs, academia, etc.), and as successfully applied in utility installations.

Submission Guidelines

Innovation Showcase

Submission should include the following: 

  • Showcase Name
  • Showcase Description (Up to 500 words)
  • Submissions with a commercial interest or to promote a business are not permitted.
  • Selected showcases will be presented in poster format at the conference.

Showcases will be evaluated for relevance to the tracks and likelihood of achieving the conference objective of bringing together the state of the art in energy research with policy for impactful outcomes on accelerating meaningful impact to achieve a robust and sustainable energy future.

Panel Proposals – CLOSED

Proposals should include the following: 

  • Full Name – First & Last
  • Proposal Description (Up to 500 words)
  • Prospective Audience (e.g. Regulators, Policy Makers, etc)
  • Suggested Forum Track (Please select from the 3 noted above.)
  • Moderator and Panelist Full Name – First & Last, Affiliations, and Contact information – Email & Phone number
  • Submissions with a commercial interest or to promote a business are not permitted.
  • The final panels will be 45 to 90 minutes in length and should have two to four panelists.
  • Final selected presentations will need to be on the PES branded template, available here.

Panels will be evaluated for relevance to the tracks and likelihood of achieving the conference objective of bringing together the state of the art in energy research with policy for impactful outcomes on accelerating meaningful impact to achieve a robust and sustainable energy future.

Speaker Submissions – CLOSED

Nominations for outstanding speakers. You may self-nominate or recommend an individual speaker who can bring value to the conference. Speakers should have relevant experience in Energy and Policy and have experience conveying ideas to audiences.
