Giorgia Bettin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Following her education, Giorgia joined Schlumberger-Doll Research, where she contributed to innovative projects in wellbore cementing and completions. In 2012, she transitioned to Sandia National Laboratories, focusing on wellbore integrity for the Oil & Gas and geologic storage sectors. Over the past seven years, Giorgia has managed Sandia’s geothermal research program, emphasizing the development of advanced drilling technologies and specialized high-temperature downhole tools. Her work aims to enhance the reliability and integration of geothermal energy as a baseload power source within the broader energy landscape, contributing to a sustainable and resilient energy future.
