Energy Markets and Policy Lead

Nekabari Goka serves as an Energy Markets and Policy Lead on Google’s Energy and Power team. In this capacity, he leads the development of and advocacy for Google’s energy policy and market priorities across the US central region, as well as supports utility partner commercial negotiations as part of Google’s data center site selection process. During the 10+ years prior to joining Google, Nekabari worked in various roles across the power and utilities industry, developing subject matter expertise in energy commodity risk management, cost of service rate making, and electricity market design.

A native of Atlanta, GA, Nekabari received BA degrees in both Economics and International Affairs from The University of Georgia, as well as an interdisciplinary MS degree with concentrations in Science, Technology and Energy Policy from The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Outside of work, Nekabari serves as a member of the Economic Policy Survey Committee of the National Association for Business Economics, and serves as a frequent guest lecturer for Georgia Tech’s Pathways to Policy Semester in DC program. Nekabari is a resident of Prince George’s County Maryland, where he lives with his wife and daughter.
