Richard Baxter is President of Mustang Prairie Energy where he advises clients in competitive strategies to reduce the investment risk in energy storage corporate and project financing. Richard has been active in the energy storage industry for 25 years, holding a variety of leadership positions across the industry.
He leads the Reducing Investment Risk in energy storage financing efforts through collective working group engagements with U.S. National Laboratories and key energy storage industry leaders. He chairs the U.S. DOE Energy Storage Financing Summit for over 10 years where he leads collaboration between developers, financiers, and regulators to accelerate market adoption. Previous engagements also included launching the Advancing Contracting in Energy Storage (ACES) Working Group.
Another area of effort is in energy storage system cost analysis, where he has helped define the cost structure and investment framework that guide today’s energy storage markets, including the Lazard Levelized Cost of Storage, the DOE Energy Storage Grand Challenge’s Technology Cost and Performance report series, Sandia National Laboratories Energy Storage Pricing Survey, and authoring the Book, “Energy Storage: A Nontechnical Guide.”
