Senior Director of Clean Energy Technologies and Policy
Dr. Huiyi Jackson currently serves as the Senior Director of Clean Energy Technologies and Policy at the Edison Electric Institute. In this role, she provides strategic oversight of research, analytics, and policy development related to clean energy technologies, including hydrogen, carbon capture utilization and storage, advanced nuclear, energy storage, and renewable energy sources. Dr. Jackson leads a team of clean energy analysts and collaborates with industry stakeholders to formulate strategies that advance the commercialization and deployment of clean energy solutions, with a particular focus on grid decarbonization. She also co-chairs the Advanced Renewables – Non-Geothermal and Advanced Storage and Efficiency Workgroups for the Carbon Free Technology Initiative, driving key initiatives for carbon-free energy advancements.
Before her current role, Dr. Jackson served as Senior Manager of Transmission at NextEra Energy, where she played a pivotal role in overseeing grid-scale renewable energy projects and contributing to transmission planning and interconnection. Previously at NextEra, she served as Manager of Data Analytics, where she led a cross-functional team of data engineers and scientists to develop AL/ML solutions for wind, solar, and storage assets. During her tenure, she secured significant funding for technological initiatives, presented strategic business insights to senior leadership, and gained experience through a six-month rotation consulting for the nuclear division.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Jackson worked as a Control Engineer at ABB, contributing to the development of power plants in East Asia, gaining valuable expertise in the early stages of the clean energy value chain. Her extensive experience spans the entire clean energy value chain, from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) such as ABB, to utilities like Exelon and NextEra Energy, and into financial investment in clean energy projects.
Dr. Jackson holds a Ph.D. in Wind Energy Science, Engineering, and Policy from Iowa State University, supported by a National Science Foundation fellowship. She earned her B.S. in Mathematics and B.E. in Automation from the University of Iowa. She also recently completed an MBA at Georgetown University, broadening her strategic and financial expertise in the energy sector. Dr. Jackson holds two patents related to wind turbine early detection, reflecting her commitment to advancing technology in the clean energy industry. Additionally, she has successfully applied for federal and private funding, maintaining strong partnerships with national laboratories such as PNNL, LANL, and Argonne National Lab, as well as with leading research universities.
