Katherine L Peretick was appointed to the Michigan Public Service Commission by Governor Gretchen Whitmer on January 4, 2021. Her term ends July 2, 2027.
Commissioner Peretick serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC). In August 2024, she was nominated to serve on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Federal and State Current Issues Collaborative. She also serves as Chair of the NARUC Electric Vehicles State Working Group, leading the conversation on regulatory topics for electric vehicles. She was also appointed to Vice Chair of the Electric Power Research Institute Advisory Council, which advises the organization on trends in political, economic, and social issues and prioritizes research to serve the public interest.
Commissioner Peretick serves on the board of directors of the Organization of PJM States.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Peretick worked in the public and private sectors with a focus on energy storage technology development. She served as Director of Engineering at NRStor Inc., an international energy storage project developer. Her past experience also includes leading project engineering for long-duration energy storage technology company General Compression, as a mechanical engineer as part of wind turbine manufacturer Vestas global Leadership Development Program, and a fellowship with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. She also worked on the Juno and Curiosity spacecraft missions with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Commissioner Peretick holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Energy Systems Engineering from the University of Michigan.
