Katrina Pekar-Carpenter is an Assistant Director at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). She began working at GAO after receiving a PhD in geology from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2012. Her primary area of expertise is in commercial and defense nuclear waste cleanup and storage, but she has also coauthored a wide variety of reports including technology assessments on small modular reactors, cloud seeding, and climate engineering. She is also a coauthor of a book chapter focused on how to conduct technology assessments on climate engineering technologies in the Handbook of Technology Assessment.
