Acting Laboratory Program Manager for Cybersecurity and Resilience, and Senior Strategic Advisor for Resilience R&D

Dr. Robert “Bobby” Jeffers is acting Laboratory Program Manager for Cybersecurity and Resilience, and a Senior Strategic Advisor for Resilience R&D at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). He advises laboratory leadership and coordinates collaborative research in areas such as modeling and simulation capabilities; best practices for decision support; and the development of advanced resilience frameworks, methodologies, and threat-driven analysis. In the past year, Bobby has worked closely with other national laboratories to support DOE in strategizing the delivery of state and tribal technical assistance for the beneficiaries of the billions of dollars for grid resilience investments made available through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Prior to his time at NREL, Dr. Jeffers led a portfolio of impactful energy-centric projects at Sandia National Laboratory utilizing Sandia’s broad expertise in multi-infrastructure modeling and simulation. He began his career at the Idaho National Laboratory as an Energy and Environmental Systems Modeler and Power and Controls Researcher. Dr. Jeffers earned his master’s degree in electrical engineering and power systems from Virginia Tech, and his doctorate in Environmental Science from Washington State University.
