Siva Sankaranarayanan is a Principal Technical Leader at the Electric Power Research Institute and is part of the Advanced Buildings and Communities research program. His research is focused on the application of high-efficiency and grid-connected end-use technologies in buildings and communities and investigating decarbonization pathways through an optimal combination of Efficiency, Electrification, and Demand Flexibility approaches. Siva currently serves as the Principal Investigator on the EPRI’s DOE-funded Connected Communities project, which seeks to develop scalable approaches for enabling Virtual Power Plant (VPP) applications with Multifamily Affordable Housing communities, and as the technical architect for EPRI’s CEC-funded VPP-FLEX project, which is developing approaches for scaling VPP applications in K-12 school buildings through collaboration with the Los Angeles Unified School District. Siva has over 25 years of experience in various industry verticals, including Telecommunications, K-12 Education, Management Consulting, and Energy. Siva has a Master’s degree in electrical engineering from NYU Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology.
